Chennai, May 29: Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption today grilled former Tamil Nadu minister and DMK treasurer Arcot N Veerasamy on former Karnataka DGP C Dinakar's charge that money had changed hands when Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar was kidnapped by forest brigand Veerappan. Veerasamy was questioned for over an hour by the officials.
Later, talking to reporters, Veerasamy said he was subjected to "intense interrogation."
"But there is nothing to hide from the public as the media had published everything that had happened during the kidnap episode," he said.
The DVAC inquiry was an attempt to "besmirch the image of DMK president M Karunanidhi," he said.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had announced in the state assembly recently that a DVAC inquiry would be ordered into Dinakar's allegations in his book 'Rajkumar-Veerappan's prize catch' that money had been delivered at the residence of former chief minister Karunanidhi, when the Kannada actor was kidnapped.
However, the charge was denied by Karunanidhi. Bureau Report
