Pondicherry, June 26: The Thanthai Periar Dravidar Kazhagam will hold a one-day Tamil Nadu Pondicherry state level conference under the banner 'retrieval of self-respect of Tamils' in Pondicherry on July 19. President of the Kazhagam Kolathur Mani told reporters here today that there would be a rally from near the statue of Indira Gandhi at Ellaipillaichavady to Periar Thidal where the conference would be addressed by various delegates.

The forenoon session of the conference would be held at Ariankuppam and those who would address the meeting would include Tamil Nadu CPI state secretary R Nallakannu and Pudhia Tamizhagam founder Dr Krishnaswamy.

Mani said that his organisation opposed tooth and nail any move for reservation on the basis of economic criterion. The policy of reservation to uplift the downtrodden and underprivileged should be available in private sector and also in public sector undertakings, he said.

Mani also registered his protest against the various measures of Tamil Nadu government to freeze job opportunities and also the concessions in age ceiling.
