Iraq-Kuwait border, Feb 08: The first troops of a main contingent of Japanese forces entered Iraq from Kuwait today in Japan's most controversial and risky deployment since world war two. Some 80 members of the ground self-defense force crossed the border into southern Iraq at around 8:25 am (0525 GMT) in a convoy of vehicles, witnesses said. They are part of a contingent of 600 soldiers, which will be based in the southern city of Samawa. Bureau Report
