Pune, Sept 07: Senior TDP legislator and former minister Krishna Yadav, who was arrested in Hyderabad by the special investigating team (SIT) of Maharashtra Police yesterday, was brought here today to further probe into the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket. Yadav, who was brought at around 4.00 am, is likely to be produced before the court in the afternoon to seek police remand for him, police said here.
The legislator, who represents Himayatnagar assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh's capital, was picked up from his residence by the sit in pursuance of an arrest warrant issued by a special judge of Maharashtra Crime Control Court.
Earlier, he was questioned by the SIT sleuths on April 29. Yadav is accused of helping prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi in the fake stamps and stamp paper racket and provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) have been invoked against him.
Apart from the Sections 33 and 24 of the MCOCA, provisions of Bombay Stamp Act and various sections of IPC have been applied against the MLA. Yadav is the second MLA to be arrested in the fake stamp paper scam. Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP) MLA Anil Gote from Maharashtra was earlier arrested in connection with the racket.
The arrest of the TDP legislator is likely to throw more light in the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket which has ramifications in more than seven states. Bureau Report
