Kanhangad (Kerala), May 01: The Congress will have to extend support to a Left Front led secular government at the Centre as both BJP and Congress led coalition would not be able to form a viable alternative in the prevailing political scenario, CPI-M politburo member Sitaram Yechuri said today. In the emerging political situation in the country, only a secular government led by Left parties can form a government at the Centre while Congress will be forced to extend support to it as neither the BJP nor Congress led fronts can offer a viable alternative, Yechuri told a public meeting here.

The economic policies of the BJP and congress were more or less similar and the Left parties would not be able to support the Congress on differing issues, he maintained.
Sharply criticising the ruling united democratic front in Kerala, he said that the government was hand in glove with the fascist forces in the state.

Burning issues like growing corruption and communalism had been the hallmark of the BJP, he alleged.

Asking the voters to cast their votes in favour of the Left parties to help them form a secular progressive government at the Centre, he said that the whole country was keenly watching the poll outcome from Kerala where the CPI-M led Left parties were fighting congress as their main rivals.
