Tollywood stars reach out to help cyclone-hit victims
Top stars of Telugu film industry Tuesday announced donations to the Chief Minister`s Relief Fund for the victims of cyclone Hudhud which battered Andhra Pradesh coast Sunday.
Hyderabad: Top stars of Telugu film industry Tuesday announced donations to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the victims of cyclone Hudhud which battered Andhra Pradesh coast Sunday.
The stars who announced their contributions include Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, Junior NTR and Ram Charan Teja.
All the actors have totally donated Rs.1.30 crore toward the Chief Minister's relief fund. They also said that they will urge their fans to extend support to relief operations.
Popular actor Pawan Kalyan announced Rs.50 lakh for the fund and said he would soon visit the cyclone-hit areas.
Pawan Kalyan, who floated political party Jana Sena before elections in April this year, is the younger brother of superstar and Congress leader K. Chiranjeevi.
Leading actor Mahesh Babu announced Rs.25 lakh. Junior NTR and Allu Arjun declared that they will be contributing Rs.20 lakh each.
Chiranjeevi's actor son Ram Charan Teja was the first to announce Rs.10 lakh for the relief fund. He told reporters that he will also send food, medicines and other relief material to the affected areas. He also announced Rs. 5 lakh for Ramkrishna Misssion to undertake relief work.
Ram Charan appealed to fans of Chiranjeevi to actively participate in relief work.
Actor Sampoornesh Babu announced Rs.1 lakh. Another young actor, Manchu Manoj, announced that he is leaving for Visakhapatnam to participate in relief work. He appealed to people to celebrate Diwali with simplicity and donate the saved money towards relief work.
Venkat Sai Media Private Limited Managing Director has donated Rs.30 lakh for the relief fund.
