Welcoming the establishment of the Iraqi governing
council, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Kong Quan said
China hopes that the situation in Iraq will stabilise quickly
and the Iraqi people will soon be able to lead normal lives.
Inaugurated on Sunday in Baghdad, the council, under US guidance, is the first national executive body established in the country.
