Colombo, May 05: The stalled peace process of Sri Lanka is all set to resume with Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen, his Deputy Vidar Helgesen and LTTE's chief negotiator Anton Balasingham scheduled to arrive in the island nation later this week. According to official sources, Petersen and Helgesen would travel to Wanni on Monday to meet LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, who will be assisted by Anton Balasingham, also his political strategist, to explore the ways to resume the peace talks constructively.

Balasingham is expected to arrive in Colombo on Saturday morning and will be immediately airlifted to Wanni in a special military helicopter. Confirming their scheduled visits, Norwegian special peace envoy Eric Solheim, who is here in Colombo on a shuttle diplomacy, said, ''both parties are eager to resume talks, understanding that a lot of homework and detailed planning will have to take place before it.''

Head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM), Maj Gen Trond Furuhovde, who also took part at the meeting with FCA last evening, said, ''Leaving the problems to be resolved by the parties themselves is the key to the lasting peace as it would lead the parties to develop solutions on their own based on their motives.''
