Bhopal, Feb 11: The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta has registered a case, under the Anti-Corruption Act, against the state`s former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and four others regarding allotment of land in Dhar. Meanwhile, Singh has said that he is ready for CBI inquiry into the case. Dismissing charges filed by the Lok Ayukta as baseless, Singh said today that there should be an independent and an impartial inquiry into the case. He said that if required he was willing to face the CBI inquiry into the matter.

Lokayukta sources said here last night the action followed a directive by an Indore court and the accused include the then Principal Secretary (revenue), Indore`s collector and a businessman Subhash Gupta.

Earlier, the court ordered a probe while acting on a plea by one Prakash Chand Jain who alleged that the land coming within the precincts of his mansion, situated in Dhar, had been illegally allotted.

Even during the December 2003 assembly elections, the relationship between Singh and Gupta became a subject of allegations and counter-allegations.
