Indianapolis, Oct 01: After his retirement on lap 22 in the US GP, Ralf Schumacher was obviously disappointed and it was clear during the press release issued by his team after the race.
"When it started to rain quite heavily around lap 20 I stayed out on the track one lap too much which was unfortunately due to a misunderstanding with my engineers on the pit-wall. It was obviously not the right decision and I spun on the track which had become very slippery." said the German driver.
On his own web site, Ralf was even more precise: "For two laps I tried to understand what they were telling me on the radio, what was the weather forecast, if I had to go back to the pits to put rain tyres. But I had nothing, no information from my team. The only thing that I heard was everybody talking at the same time in great confusion. When they told me to go in, I was just past the pit entry by 100 metres. I had to do an additional lap and that is when I spun."
Once again Ralf is not sparing his team from criticism, showing his unhappiness publicly. According to BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen, such criticism is not justified.
"These criticisms can be turned around on him," said Theissen. "because the truth is the exact opposite happened. We were waiting for Ralf's answer and it never came. That's the reason why he had to do one extra lap and why he spun."

Ralf Schumacher is still hoping to renew his contract at Williams for two more years (2005 and 2006) but the relations between the two parties seem to be more and more tense...
