Jammu, Sept 10: One person was killed and another critically injured when an anti-tank mine exploded near the International Border in Samba sector in Jammu and Kashmir early today, police sources said. The explosion took place at around 8.45 am when a bullock carrying two youth went over the mine in Zenda area, they said.
One Mangat Ram died on the spot while Gissa Ram was seriously injured in the explosion, they said. The mine was one of the hundreds planted by Indian troops during "Operation Parakram". While most of the mines have been dug out by security forces, some remained undetected. The mines, once planted at an assigned location, tend to move underneath after a period of time making their detection difficult. Bureau Report
