Dhaka, Oct 26: Bangladesh Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia today expressed her optimism that ties with India would be strengthened in future. "Our bilateral relations would be further strengthened in future" she told the outgoing Indian High Commissioner Monilal Tripathy who visited her to make a farewell call.

During the meeting held at Prime Minister's Office, Begum Zia stressed that the member countries of Saarc should increase trade among them for the benefit of their economies. She urged India to view Bangladesh as a market for readymade garments, tea and leather products and asked New Delhi to extend more facilities at Banglabadh land port for boosting Dhaka's trade transactions with Nepal.

Begum Zia said that any problem between Bangladesh and India should be resolved through discussions.
