Srinagar, Oct 13: Hurriyat Conference faction led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani today said the Centre has not yet responded to the request of the firebrand separatist leader for permission to go abroad to participate in the functions organised by the Organisation of Islamic Conference. Geelani had written to the external affairs ministry for releasing his travel documents so that he could participate in the OIC functions in New York and Putrajaya in Malaysia, but there was no response from the ministry, a Hurriyat spokesman told news agencies here.

He said that Geelani, in his letter to the external affairs ministry, had cited the supreme court ruling which describes provision of travel documents as a fundamental right.
The spokesman described the Centre's action as "irresponsible".
