New Delhi, July 11: Close on the heels of an unsuccessful move to resolve the Ayodhya tangle, VHP top brass and some Hindu religious leaders are meeting in the Capital today to discuss the future course of action on the Ram temple issue. To be attended among others by VHP chief Ashok Singhal and its firebrand general secretary Praveen Togadia, the crucial day-long meeting of the high-power panel of the Ram Mandir Nirman Andolan Samiti headed by former BJP MP Mahant Avaidyanath is expected to discuss the kanchi Shankaracharya's recent initiative and its rejection by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board.

While the saffron outfit is expected to be critical of the government, it is likely to tone down its recent stridency in demanding the Prime Minister's resignation for his "failure" to bring in a legislation to facilitate construction of the Ram temple. Sangh founthead RSS has not taken kindly to the attack on the Prime Minister.

The meeting, whose agenda was set by senior leaders here today, is expected to demand that the government convene a joint session of the Parliament to pass the legislation, which BJP had categorically stated was not in the NDA agenda.

The outfit is also likely to announce a mass programme to reach out to two lakh villages and tie 'Sankalp sutras' (commitment bracelets) on people beginning July 13 and concluding on October 02. The meeting is also expected to categorically state that both Kashi and Mathura were non-negotiable.
