New Delhi, Apr 07: The Paras Group, the second largest marketerof polypouch milk in the capital, has launched its next generation bacteria-free 'bactofuged milk' processed by an advanced German technology. Paras Group is the first to introduce the bactofugation process in northern India which physically removes harmful bacteria from the milk and enhances its shelf life from two to six days.

As a market strategy, the company has decided not to increase the price of the bactofuged milk even though its additional processsing cost comes to 25 to 30 paise per litre. The improved product will continue to be sold at the existing per litre price of Rs 19 for full cream milk, Rs 15 for toned, Rs 13 for double toned and Rs 11 for Nandan, a low fat milk.

The new processing will not stop at the first pasteurisation stage as done earlier. The pasteurised product will be further put to bactofugation processing for making the milk tastier, whiter and healthier. The new generation bactofugation technology is a more effective process over pasteurisation and sterilisation which physically removes the harmful spores and pathogens, K K Bhadra, milk marketing head of Paras Group, told mediapersons at the plant site yesterday.
