Ranchi, May 10: Two Andhra Pradsh based People's War extremists, who arrived here to purchase weapons, gave the slip to the Jharkhand Police when a raid was carried out at a private lodge here today. Senior superintendent of police M V Rao said the two had gone to a private bank to withdraw money for purchasing the weapons but fled apparently after noticing police vehicles in front of the lodge situated in the heart of the city.
Five persons -- two local criminals Bhola Pande and Anil Ojha, two middlemen and a driver -- were taken into custody during the raid conducted following a tip off, Rao said. Police seized a carbine, a nine mm pistol and some magazines which were supposed to be purchased by the PW ultras, from the lodge, he added. A search operation has been launched to nab the two ultras. Bureau Report
