Surat, Dec 06: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Venkaiah naidu today asserted that his party would win two-thirds majority in the Gujarat Assembly.

Naidu told reporters that his calculation was based on the assessment and feedback received from each of the 182 constituencies in the state. ''People of the state have been responding very well to our campaign based on pro-incumbency factor and we will retain Gujarat in our kitty,'' he said.

Reacting to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's statement that terrorism is a central government subject, Naidu said that if this was the case, then on what basis had the Congress supported PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir which released terrorists from jails. He said that law and order was a state subject and central government only extended help to the states as per their requests.

Naidu said that Congress has no right to talk about Gujarat pride as there were recurring riots in Gujarat when that party was in power. He said that Congress was criticising BJP on the issue of making Godhra an election issue, but was not responding to the clarification BJP had sought in the matter.

The BJP, he said, believed that the neighbouring country had a hand in both the Godhra carnage and the Akshardham Temple attack and charged ''pseudo-secular parties'' with maintaining double standards on Godhra and post-Godhra incidents. Bureau Report
