Lucknow, Apr 08: Taking strong exception to Uttar
Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's reported "indecent" comments
on Hindu gods shown in a video CD released by the Samajwadi
Party, Congress today asked the BJP, VHP and the RSS to make
clear their stand on the tape.
In a statement here, UPCC spokesman Akhilesh Pratap Singh
said, "The silence of the BJP and its sister organisations on
the matter shows that their love for the Hindu religion and
its gods is false."
Stating that no true Indian would try to denigrate and use indecent language against gods, he said, "The Chief Minister, by her utterances, has lowered the image of the state."
Singh also criticised Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri for not initiating any action against the chief minister after the SP released the first CD in which Mayawati reportedly asked the BSP MPs and MLAs to donate a part of their local area development funds to the party coffers. The Governor had then said he had asked the state government to submit a report to him on the matter, Singh claimed, adding he must now tell what happened to the report.
