Amethi, May 15: On her maiden visit to her parliamentary constituency since losing an assembly segment in a bypoll to BSP, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today asked the partymen to strengthen the organization at the grassroot level. Addressing a closed-door meeting of bloc pramukhs at a guest house in Jagdishpur on the first day of her three-day visit, she asked the party rank and file to work unitedly to strengthen the party. Rajiv Singh, block pramukh of Sangrampur, said Gandhi charted the roadmap to carry out party work at the village level. The block pramukhs have been asked by the party chief to start door-to-door campaign in their respective areas, Singh said adding this has been suggested in a bid to win back the confidence of the poor people. He said Gandhi emphasised that she would come regularly to her constituency to keep a tab over development works being carried out in villages. This is the first time Gandhi visited her Lok Sabha constituency since Congress lost the Gauriganj assembly bypoll to ruling BSP. There are 16 Congress block pramukhs in Amethi constituency spread over in two districts of Sultanpur and Rae Bareli.
