Bhagalpur, Oct 28: After being pulled up by the National Human Rights Commission on their alleged reluctance to accept complaints, the Bihar Police has decided to register firs on telephones and organise special 'police stations' at public places on Sundays. Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) R R Prasad today said the setting up of special police stations at public places would help people turn to police freely and frequently.
Addressing a function organised by the Bihar chamber of commerce, eastern zone here, Prasad said the officers found not accepting complaints would be dealt with seriously.
During his meeting with top civil and police officials of the state last week, NHRC chairman J S Verma had expressed strong displeasure over the complaints that the Bihar Police dithered on registering cases.
Bihar Assembly speaker Sadanand Singh praised the police for doing a good job in solving several intricate cases.
Later, he gave awards to officers-incharge of 10 police stations of Bhagalpur district for solving cases of child kidnappings. Bureau Report
