Jan 07: West Ham boss Glenn Roeder expects to sign Lee Bowyer from Leeds United "sooner rather than later". The Hammers met Bowyer on Monday after agreeing a fee with Leeds and it is thought a deal could go through in time for the 26-year-old to play against Newcastle at the weekend.

"Everything went well and we expect things to be finalised sooner rather than later," said Roeder.
But it is not clear yet whether the transfer will be a long-term arrangement or merely until the end of the season - when Bowyer's contract at Leeds is due to expire.

The England international has told the Elland Road club he will not be signing a new deal with the club he joined in 1996 from Charlton Athletic.
Hammers chief executive Paul Aldridge is keen to clinch Bowyer's signature before travelling abroad on club business.
"We had a very good meeting and when the paperwork is completed - as we are sure it will be - we are confident the deal will be done in the next 24-48 hours," said Aldridge, who also hopes to sign a striker and agree a new contract with Joe Cole.
