So enticed was legendary M F Husain by the Madhuri Dixit-Salman Khan starrer. But today, Husain is a dejected man, his favourite director Sooraj Barjatya has let him down Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon was so unbearable for Husain that he couldn’t help but walk out of the theatre after watching the film for just half an hour. “I was shocked to see someone like Sooraj Barjatya make such a horrible film. I always thought Sooraj was one filmmaker who correctly depicted the Indian culture on celluloid, unlike other filmmakers who only try aping the West. But this time it looked as if kauwa hans ki chaal chalne ki koshish kar raha tha. He tried copying Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra and Farhan Akhtar by introducing the jeans-and-coke culture, he tried to appeal to the youth in which he failed miserably,” says Husain dejectedly.
