The holy shrine of Vaishno Devi is witnessing a heavy rush of pilgrims with nearly three lakh people visiting the shrine during the navratras, a top police official said.
“During the navratras from September 28 to October 6, as many as 2,96,476 people had the darshan of Vaishno Devi,” Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Satvir Gupta said.
Everyday 35 to 40 thousand devotees arrive at Katra, the base camp, for their onward journey to the cave shrine, Gupta, camping in the town to supervise security arrangements, said.
