External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh has told UN Secretary General Kofi Annan that India cannot have dialogue with Pakistan till it stops cross-border terrorism.
The situation in the sub-continent came up for discussion when Singh called on Annan at the UN on Tuesday.
They discussed the problem of terrorism and the prospects of a dialogue between India and Pakistan in the context of the situation in Kashmir.
They reviewed the results of the just-concluded UN Millennium Summit. The situation in Fiji and Sierra Leone also came up during their meeting.
Singh, who is accompanying Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the US visit, has been having a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts of several countries. Among those he met were foreign ministers of Israel and Jordan.
