The quake, with its epicentre 32 kms east of Jabalpur at Mendi village, was experienced at 4.03 am, making people rush out of their houses in panic.
However, there was no loss of life or damage to property, though some houses developed cracks, according to Jabalpur division commissioner, Madan Mohan Upadhya. The intensity of the quake was most severe in Jabalpur itself while its effect was somewhat less in other districts including Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara and Mandla and Narsinghpur, he told PTI.
