Mumbai underworld don Chhota Rajan, who escaped an attempt on his life here on September 15, has expressed his desire to return to India and surrender there. “I have to go to India. After all this finishes here, I will go to India and surrender, said a pale-looking Rajan in Bangokok. Rajan was given bail by a Bangkok court where he was formally charged for violation of Thai immigration laws. Rajan was injured when about 10 men, allegedly belonging to the rival Dawood Ibrahim gang, barged into the apartment of an Indian jeweller Michael d'Souza killing him. D'souza's wife Sangeeta Verma was injured in the shootout. Mumbai police has reportedly sought extradition of Rajan who has entered Thailand as Vijay Daman as he is wanted in several cases there. A top Thai police official Gen Chakthib however said, on Thursday, the authorities were still awaiting a formal request from India on Rajan's extradition. Bureau Report
