Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has sought Centre's intervention in bringing both the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE to the negotiating table to find an amicable solution to the ethnic strife in the island nation.
Addressing the political conference of the party in Chennai on Wednesday night, party founder Dr S Ramdoss said that the recent rejection of LTTE's offer of cease fire by the Chandrika government had once again proved that it was not interested in bringing about a negotiated settlement to the issue.
“Successive governments in Sri Lanka were deceiving the Tamils there by taking an adamant stand against conceding the rights of Tamils,” he said adding under these circumstances, there was no alternative for a separate home land for the Lankan Tamils.
Ramdoss defended his party's stand on the Sri Lankan issue citing India's support to the formation of Bangladesh. Bureau Report
