Gulzar`s Sunset Point: First ever musical-story album
A betrayed lover in a pensive mood at the Sunset Point…wistful memories overflowing… remembrance of her happier days…This is where Gulzar`s pen starts and takes us through the world of a jilted lover with all the pathos and pain. This is Sunset Point, a new concept album by Gulzar, backed by Vishal Bhardwaj`s music and Bhupinder and Chitra`s voice. Ritu Verma finds herself taken over by this concept and the man behind it.

This is Sunset Point, a new concept album by Gulzar, backed by Vishal Bhardwaj’s music and Bhupinder and Chitra’s voice.
Music has a natural place in our lives. Right from the shlokas we recite in our morning puja to the filmi songs. We can’t speak of Hindi music without Gulzar. He started writing songs for films with Bimal da’s Bandini. ‘Mora gora ang layee lo’ was his first step in music world. Kabuliwala, Bandini, Khamoshi and Maachis are among the many films that are punctuated with Gulzar’s words. After getting recognition as a sensitive lyricst, he started writing scripts and stories for films. Taking the big step he directed he directed his first movie ‘Mere Apne’ in 1971. Natural flair behind the camera has resulted in several masterpieces and his experiences with music, lyrics and scripts made him an all rounder expert. Gulzar teams up with Bhupinder are once again together in his new project ‘Sunset Point’. Sony Music has come up with this new non-film album based on a new concept by Gulzar. ‘Sunset Point’ is first ever musical story album in India. It is a simple love story narrated by Gulzar in his inimitable style and describes the story through songs in the melodious voices of Bhupiner Singh and Chitra. The talented music director, Vishal Bharadwaj, has composed the songs in this album. The album features 8 songs, tied to a theme. Sunset Point is about 45 minutes of visual and aural ambrosia. The story of Sunset Point opens on a foggy evening. She is standing at Sunset Point, having been betrayed in love. Memory takes her back to the time when they met first. Right here, at the Sunset Point, where she is now standing. She recollects intimate instances with her lover. Abrupt images of her engagement with someone else jar her wistful trip down the memory lane. She remembers her running away from home on the occasion of her wedding to another man. His promise to meet her at Sunset Point…What happens next…. Does he come or it is too late… Check out on Sony Music.
