The Kerala unit of the Samajwadi Party has decided to merge with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), according to P M Harris, President of the unit. The merger of the two parties would take place on October 31 at a conference to be held here in which NCP national leaders were expected to participate, Harris said in a statement in Kochi on Wednesday. The polices of the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was badly affecting the country, it alleged adding that the minorities were feeling insecure in the country under NDA rule. “On the one side the country was affected by the globalisation policy of the centre and on the other RSS was 'disturbing' the peaceful atmosphere pervailing in the country through their 'Indianisation' plan against the minority communities,” it said.
The welfare policies adopted by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the state had prompted Samajwadi Party to support LDF in the recent local body elections in the state, the statement added.
