The script has been penned by Goddard, who is also producing the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The details about the character arcs are yet to be revealed and the director is aiming for a start by January 2018.

Set in the 1960s, the story centres around a run-down hotel named the El Royale, near California's Lake Tahoe and chronicles the doings of a cast of characters whose own shady agendas are waiting to collide violently.

If Hemsworth seals the deal, the "Thor" actor will reunite with Goddard post horror movie mash-up "Cabin in the Woods"
