BJP MP wants 5 seats reserved in Lok Sabha, one in Rajya Sabha for Gilgit, PoK

New Delhi: A BJP member on Friday demanded reservation of five seats in the Lok Sabha and one in the Rajya Sabha for residents of Gilgit and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) regions.
Nishikant Dubey said the state legislature of Jammu and Kashmir has 25 seats vacant for the territories under illegal occupation of Pakistan.
"I request for reservation of five Lok Sabha seats and one Rajya Sabha seat for residents of Gilgit and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) regions," he said during the Zero Hour.
He also demanded sympathetic view by the government on granting citizenship to people coming from that region.
His party colleague Jagdambika Pal raised the issue of clearing arrears of sugarcane growers in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.
He said the farmers have not received their dues of the last two years.
Of the total cane arrears, the maximum amount pertains to Uttar Pradesh at Rs 1,975 crore, he said.
Ram Prasad Sharma of BJP wanted the government to revive three paper mills in Assam which are lying on "deathbed".
"Government should take immediate steps to revive those paper mills as huge amount of raw material is present in the state," he added.
Om Birla (BJP) demanded steps to clean Chambal river as it was polluted by the nallahs in Kota.
