With emerging trends showing the Narendra Modi-led BJP getting a strong lead in Uttar Pradesh - one of India`s most electorally crucial states - as the counting of votes for the recently concluded Assembly elections 2017 began on Saturday, the outcome of the hotly contested polls evoked a strong reactions from netizens on various social media platforms.

While some called it a tectonic shift in Indian politics, some even called it a big thumbs up to 'Brand Modi'. A section of Twitter user ridiculed the SP-Congress alliance, some others called for deep introspection for the Rahul Gandhi-led Congress and BSP led by Mayawati, which has been virtually wiped out in these polls.
