LIVE: Delhi`s total increase by 1,647 to 42,829; death count surges to 1,400

India on Monday (June 15, 2020) recorded more than 11,000 cases in the last 24 hours. The total tally crossed 3.32 lakh on and the death toll was at 9,520.

  • Delhi: 1,647 new cases were reported in the national capital in the last 24 hours. The number of total cases surged to 42,829, out of which 16,427 are still active. The death count was increased by 73 to 1,400.

  • National Capital Region:

    Gautam Buddh Nagar: 76 new cases take the total to 1,011. Around 489 still active. Deaths - 12

    Gurugram: 183 new cases in the last 24 hours, total 3,477 now.

    Faridabad: Total increased by 128 in a day to 1,405

     

  • Tamil Nadu: Record 44 deaths in 24 hrs in the state take the death count to 479; active cases at 20,678. There were 1,843 new cases in the last 24 hours that took the total to 46,504. 

    Chennai: 1,257 cases take the total to 32,244, of which 15,385 are active cases.
     

  • Delhi: Amit Shah directs the Delhi Chief Secretary to install CCTV cameras in Corona wards of every Corona hospital so that there is proper monitoring and problems of patients can also be resolved.
     

  • Karnataka: 213 new cases were reported today taking the total number of positive cases in the State to 7,213. The number of active cases increased to 2,987. The death count is at 88.

As per the Ministry of Health data, total coronavirus cases in India stand at 332424 including 153106 active cases, 169798 cured/discharged/migrated and 9520 deaths. 


Thirty-five of the country's 36 states and Union Territories have reported Covid-19 cases so far, with Sikkim being the latest to report a case.


Among states, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are the hotspots for Covid-19 cases. Maharashtra and Gujarat have also reported the highest number of Covid-19 deaths, accounting for nearly 60 per cent of the country's Covid-19 toll.


Meanwhile, Maharashtra the worst-hit state recorded 3,390 new cases and the total number of cases touched 1,07,958. The death count was increased by 120.


Delhi recorded yet another spike of coronavirus cases on Sunday, the Centre stepped in and issued a slew of measures to control the rise of COVID-19 infections. The tally has risen to 41,182 cases with the death count at 1,327.
