LIVE: Gujarat`s total COVID-19 cases increase by 477 to 20,574; death count at 1,280

India recorded a spike of over 9,900 in the number of new coronavirus infections reported from across the country. As of June 7, India has 2,56,611 confirmed cases, including 1,25,381 active cases, 1,24,094 recoveries and 7,135 casualties as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare`s COVID-19 data on Monday morning.

  • Gujarat: The State's total cases jumped to 20,574 after 477 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours. Active count at 5,330, while 1,280 have succumbed to the virus.

     

  • Bihar: 72 more confirmed cases in the State take the total count to 5,247.

     

  • Maharashtra: 2,553 fresh cases took the State's total to 88.528. There were 109 new deaths on Monday in the state. The State's total death count increased to 3,169.

    Mumbai: 50,085 cases in the capital city, death count at 1,702.
     

  • Karnataka: 387 people discharged today taking the total number of discharged patients in the State to 2,519. Around 308 new cases were reported today. Total active count increased to 3,175. Death count increased by 3 to 64.

Shopping malls, religious places, hotels and restaurants are now set to reopen in most states from today after more than two months of sustained shut down as part of government's Unlock 1.0 plan to reopen several economic activities that were earlier restricted due to novel coronavirus pandemic.


The Union Health Ministry had issued a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the strict adherence at these places to contain the spread of COVID-19 but also left it to the discretion of the states to finetune the details.
