Total coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Gujarat reach 7013, death toll stands at 425

India`s fight against coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic continues, the total number of cases recorded in the country is 49,391 while the death toll is at 1, 694. There are 33,514 active cases which include 14,183 recovered, cases, as per the last update by the Union Health Ministry.

Latest Updates

  • As of 8 pm, total cases in Gujarat reached 7,013, with 388 new cases in the last 24 hours. Total active cases stand at 4,879 and death toll at 425 with 29 new deaths in the last 24 hours. A total of 1,709 people have recovered with 209 recoveries in the last 4 hours.

  • Telangana records 15 new positive cases on Thursday. Total cases reach 1,122 and the death toll stands at 29.

  • First train from Delhi to Madhya Pradesh with 1,078 migrant workers departed from New Delhi station.

  • Police personnel affected by COVID-19 in West Bengal rises to 32. While 12 policemen are from Kolkata Police, the 20 other policemen are from Howrah Police.
     

  • First flight with 175 stranded Indians from abroad will land in Kochi from Abu Dhabi at 9.40 pm. The Air India Express flight left UAE at 4.15 local time. The second flight of 175 stranded Indians is an Air India Express from Dubai to Kozhikode and will arrive at 10.30 pm. It took off from Dubai at 5 pm.

  • West Bengal records total 1,548 coronavirus COVID-19 positive cases and the death toll stands at 79, In the last 24 hours, 92 new cases and 7 deaths have been reported and total active cases stand at 1,101. Total discharged so far is 296. 

  • The cremation of the constable of Bharat Nagar Police Station who died due to coronavirus COVID-19 took place on Thursday at Punjabi Bagh crematorium. Joint Commissioner of Police Northern Range Manish Agrawal, DCP NORTH West and other officers of NW district were present at the cremation to pay their respect. The father, brother, father-in-law, brother-in-law and other close family members were also present. The police officers and family members paid their respect by showering flower petals on the ambulance carrying the body. Joint CP Agrawal interacted with the family members and conveyed solidarity with them in this hour of grief.

  • Karnataka: As of 5 pm, cumulatively 705 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, it includes 30 deaths and 366 discharges.

  • 10 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Gautam Buddha Nagar today. The total number of cases in the district is now at 202, including 93 active cases.

  • Rajasthan reports 83 new cases; total cases jump to 1565, death toll 95

  • Maharashtra's Thane is witnessing a spike in COVID-19 cases. So far a total of 500 positive cases and 19 deaths have been recorded in the area.

  • Andhra Pradesh reports 56 fresh cases of infections taking the total tally to 1,833 with 38 deaths.

  • Malegon in Maharashtra reports four new cases of COVID-19 infection, including a 1-year-old child. Total cases jump to 421 with death toll at 14.  

  • As many as 56.5% of the COVID-19 cases are from these 8 cities:

    Mumbai accounts for 20%

    Delhi 11%

    Ahmedabad 9%

    Pune 4%

    Chennai 4%

    Indore 3%

    Thane 3% (approx)

    Jaipur 2.5%.

  • Rajasthan reports 38 new cases:
    Jaipur 9
    Chittorgarh 16
    Dholpur 4
    Udaipur 1
    Pali 6
    Kota 2

    Total cases at 3,355, death toll 95

  • A special train with 1,200 migrant workers will leave from Delhi on Thursday evening at 8 pm for Madhya Pradesh. These workers had put up at different shelter homes across Delhi and now want to return home. The Delhi government is in talks with Bihar and UP to send labourers from those states back.

  • Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot issues an order to seal all inter-state boundaries of the state with immediate effect to prevent the entry of unauthorised persons. (ANI)

  • PM Modi on the occasion of Buddha Purnima says, "India will continue to help in developments around the world using Buddha's teachings amid the coronavirus crisis."

  • PM Modi in his address to the nation: "I extend my wishes to all on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. Today, situation is such that I can't participate in Buddha Purnima programs physically. It would have been my pleasure to be with you all in the celebrations,but circumstances prevailing today do not permit us."

  • India reports 3,561 new cases and 89 deaths in the last 24 hours. Recovery rate is at 28.83%.  

  • India's total COVID-19 cases jump to 52,952 which includes 15,267 recovered cases, death toll touches 1,783, as per Union Health Ministry data.

  • Nagpur reports 44 new cases taking its total to 206. At least 25 cases are from Mominpura, as many as 600 people from the area have been put under quarantine. 

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the keynote address at a Buddh Purnima programme in honour of the victims and frontline warriors of COVID-19 at 9 am on May 7. 

  • Another 649 COVID-19 patients have died, bringing the total coronavirus-related death toll in Britain to 30,076, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Robert Jenrick said. Chairing the Downing Street daily briefing, Jenrick told reporters that 69,463 tests were carried out Tuesday, with a total of 201,101 people having tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Britain. The latest figures came one day after Britain overtook Italy as the worst-hit country in Europe by the virus.
