Pakistan Rangers initiated the unprovoked and indiscriminate firing earlier today. There have been no casualties in the shelling.

The injured jawan has, meanwhile, been shifted to the Army hospital in Poonch.

Pakistani troops have been continuously shelling on the areas along the LoC.

Last week, following the Sunjuwan Army camp attack, Pakistani troops had launched mortars shells in Khadi Karmara forward areas in Poonch.

Earlier today, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that guns can never do away with the tension prevailing in the militancy-hit state. Instead, only talks can solve the problems.

Speaking to the media, Mufti urged for peace in the state. She said that the conditions at the border are not good so in order to make situations better, both the countries - India and Pakistan should talk.

"Guns cannot solve any problems, only talks can solve problems. Conditions at the border are not good, Both the countries should talk and there should be ceasefire. Peace should be given an opportunity," she said.

A total of 18 people, including ten security personnel and eight civilians, were killed and over 75 injured in Pakistani shelling along the LoC and the IB in Jammu region this year.
