SHOPIAN: An encounter broke out on Wednesday between militants and security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir after an attack on Army patrolling party. The attack took place at the patrolling party in Tourkewangam in Shopian.

2-3 terrorists are reportedly trapped at Tourkewangam where the encounter is underway between security forces and terrorists, as per ANI.


Last week on April 27, terrorists attacked an Army party in Shopian in South Kashmir. The attack took place in Zainapora area Shopian district. 


The terrorists had reportedly fired upon Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles party at Malikgund bus stop in Zainapora. They were hiding in orchards when the firing began. The army personnel in the vehicle retaliated which led to an exchange of firing.


The terrorists had managed to flee from the area. The firing created panic among the locals of Shopian district.


Earlier on April 1, fierce gunbattles were seen in Shopian and Anantnag districts where 11 terrorists and three jawans lost their lives. Two to three terrorists were captured by the 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of the army and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir in the Kachdoora area.
