New Delhi: Delhi`s Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has approved the setting up of 500 more water ATMs in the national capital following success of the Delhi Jal Board`s (DJB) pilot project in the Savda Ghevera colony.
An official release said, these ATMs will provide the citizens with an easily accessible, demand based, affordable supply system. The move will also supplement water supply, particularly in areas that are facing crisis and the Jal Board has identified the water-deficient areas following the Lieutenant Governor`s directions.
Ten such ATMs are being installed in South West Delhi and will become operational by the first week of July and the rest will come up subsequently. Orders for installation of 10 reverse osmosis (RO)-based plants have already been placed, and within the next three months more than 50 ATMs will be installed in various resettlement colonies.
