New Delhi: Overcast conditions prevailed throughout the day on Friday in Delhi after overnight rains brought down temperatures significantly.

The maximum temperature today settled three notches below the season's average at 30.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum was recorded a notch above normal at 19 degrees Celsius, MeT officials said.


Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.7 degree Celsius while the minimum settled at 21 degrees Celsius.


The Safdarjung observatory, considered the official reading for the city, recorded 6.4 mm rainfall since 8.30 am yesterday while areas under Palam, Ayanagar, Ridge and Lodhi Road received 8 mm, 10.4 mm, 12 mm and 7.4 mm rainfall.


Humidity soared in the atmosphere and was recorded between 61 and 98 per cent.


The MeT has predicted light rains for tomorrow.


"One or two spells of light rain or thundershowers could occur in some areas. The sky will be partly cloudy," the MeT forecast said.


There will be mist in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 28 and 18 degrees respectively, the official said.
