GE Nuclear Energy of the United States and Japan's Toshiba Corp said Thursday they will extend a nuclear partnership for another decade to strengthen their presence in the lucrative nuclear power market. The agreement continues... the relationship that dates back to the mid-1960s and which has been instrumental in the global development of safe, inexpensive and environmentally friendly nuclear power, they said in a statement.
The pair aim to provide operators of boiling water reactor nuclear plants with the latest technology. The agreement will also strengthen the companies' joint efforts to be successful in the highly competitive global markets for supply of new nuclear power plants. The two firms provide nuclear services to some of the 92 boiling water reactor plants worldwide including 28 in Japan.
