Lindsay Davenport beat Jelena Dokic for the third time in as many weeks to advance to the semi-finals of the WTA championship in Munich. The 6-4 6-2 win on Thursday means Davenport is on course to overtake Jennifer Capriati as the world number one.
Davenport must win her fourth tournament in four weeks to claim the top spot, while Capriati only needs to reach the final.
Her opponent in the semi-finals is likely to be Belgium's Kim Clijsters, the world number five.
The 18-year-old faces Spanish veteran Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario later on Thursday. Bureau Report
