A day after the AICC emissaries met him to resolve the week-long crisis in the Congress in Kerala, senior party leader K Karunakaran expressed the hope that the high command would reconsider the candidates list for the coming Assembly polls to accommodate his supporters. "I am hopeful that the candidates list will be reconsidered and it is the duty of the high command to ensure that none of my supporters are ignored," Karunakaran, who resigned from the CWC over the "raw deal" meted out to him, said. The present crisis was the result of "several issues," he said, adding his group "definitely deserved" a better deal. Asked whether the visit of the two emissaries, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Motilal Vora, had helped ease tension, he said the final decision would be taken by the high command. He was yet to have a word with party president Sonia Gandhi. However, Karunakaran said the present crisis would not affect the prospects of the United Democratic Front in the Assembly polls. "The primary agenda of the UDF is to defeat the ruling Left Democratic Front," he added. Bureau Report
