London: Having trouble sleeping? Well then, you better go to bed at exactly 10:37pm to ensure a solid night's sleep, as per a study.

According to the survey of 1,000 people by George Home, 55% of Britons have trouble sleeping due to cold and discomfort’ in the bedroom during the winter months.

The survey showed that on an average, people only sleep for six hours and fifteen minutes between during the winter months, compared to nearly seven hours the rest of the year.

“People’s sleeping habits in the UK differ from season to season and our insight shows that the number of hours people are managing to sleep is getting less and less. Atmosphere and comfort are key to getting a good night’s sleep and investing in the perfect set up can make a big difference to how relaxed you feel at night. Our customers have given us what they think is the perfect formula for the most restful night which hopefully will help us all to think about our bedtime routine in more depth in order to get that all important rest,” a spokeswoman for George Home said.

Analysis of the survey results suggest some formula for the ‘perfect night’s sleep’ in winter:

  • Two goose feather pillows
  • One hot water bottle
  • One 13.5 tog duvet
  • One throw or blanket across the bottom of the bed
  • One pair of slipper socks
  • One pair of cotton pyjamas
  • 19C room temperature
  • 7:19am wake
