New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his visit to the United States on Thursday, during which he will attend many headline-grabbing events.

While the first part of his trip in New York will see an address to the United Nations General Assembly and political meetings with world leaders, the second leg will take PM Modi to the Silicon Valley where he will meet a host of industry leaders.


Among those will be Apple’s Tim Cook, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg. The Silicon Valley stop will also include visits to headquarters of Google and Facebook, and a dinner with leading technology firms' CEOs.

Modi will arrive in the Silicon Valley on September 26 and will stay there for two days – at the Fairmont San Jose hotel.


The meetings with Cook and Nadella will happen on September 26 while California Governor Jerry Brown will call on PM Modi the next day, reported The Indian Express.


Another key highlight of the Silicon Valley trip will be a Q&A Town Hall along with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg at Menlo Park.


The PM will also pay a visit to the Palo Alto facility of Tesla, the clean energy firm, and attend the India-US Startup Konnect - 30 Indian start-ups will showcase their ideas to Venture Capitalists there.


The visit to Tesla is important because PM Modi is expected to offer the firm a role in his pet Smart Cities project.


Modi will also participate in a round-table discussion on clean technologies and renewable energy at the Stanford University.


He will also attend a lunch to be hosted by Indian Ambassador Arun Kumar Singh.
