New Delhi: An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted Pakistan and Afghanistan on Friday.

According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake had its epicentre 32 km from Jarm, Afghanistan.


The tremor was also felt in Peshawar Malakand, Mansehra, Haripur, Swat, Dir and Abbottabad district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the northwest.


Geo TV reported that people came out of homes in panic but no loss was reported so far from any part of the country.


This is the third quake reported to hit the northern areas of Pakistan since the beginning of 2016.


More than 300 people were killed in Pakistan and Afghanistan in 7.5 magnitude in October last year.
