Three UP cops suspended for thrashing pickpocket inside police station

Etawah (UP): Three policemen were suspended on Thursday after a video clip showing them thrashing an alleged pickpocket inside a police station in Saifai went viral on social and electronic media.

Taking a serious note of the matter, SSP Manjil Saini also ordered a probe by Circle Officer Saifai AK Dixit.

The video shows third degree method being used during questioning of the alleged pickpocket in the police station.

The youth from Mainpuri, Rupesh alias Pullu, was caught near Muchehra petrol pump on Etah-Mainpuri road on November 27 and brought to the Saifai police station on charges committing pickpocket, police said.

Those suspended were Sub-Inspector Avdhesh Kumar, and constables Gulab Singh and Arvind Singh, police said.
