Kolkata: Famed TV actor and BJP leader Roopa Ganguly suffered head injuries on Sunday when her convoy of vehicles was attacked near here allegedly by rival Trinamool Congress members, media reports said.

Her convoy was reportedly attacked in the Diamond Harbour area near Kolkata.


She was on her way back from the Sundarbans at the time of the incident.


According to NDTV, Ganguly suffered head injuries in the attack and she was admitted to a hospital. She is reportedly out of danger.


Narrating the incident to ANI news agency later, Ganguly said, ''They have beaten us badly. Police did not try to stop the attackers. We will file an FIR."


Ganguly had lost to Trinamool's Laxmi Ratan Shukla from Howrah North seat in the recent assembly elections in West Bengal.


Ganguly is well-known in the country for essaying the role of 'Draupadi' in the epic serial 'Mahabharat' in the 1980s.
