Fire in Kolkata power substation

Kolkata: A fire broke out in a substation of power utility CESC here on Friday but has been brought under control, an official said. There are no reports of any injury.
As many as 15 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze at the substation at Dum Dum in the northeastern part of the city, said an official of the West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services.
Reports of the blaze came at about 11.30 am and around ten fire engines reached the substation, which is close to the Dum Dum Central Jail, the official said.
According to CESC, there was a fire at one of the 33 KV transformers inside the distribution station. CESC personnel on duty immediately alerted the fire brigade and other authorities.
The affected transformer was quickly de-energised and supply to the area restored from alternative sources. Senior officials of the power utility company are at site. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
