Zee Media Bureau/Hemant Abhishek New Delhi: Chile was rocked by a strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale early on Sunday. The quake that occurred at 6:33 pm Saturday local time (2233 GMT) hit central Chile the hardest and shook buildings and led to power outages in the Santiago, reports said. No information of any major damage was received. The US Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the quake was 31 miles (50 km) north-northeast of the port city of Valparaiso and it hit at a depth of 20 miles (32 km). The Chilean navy said there was no tsunami risk. Reports quoted Chilean emergency service Onemias saying that about 100,000 people in Santiago lost electricity and there were partial power cuts in cities of Temuco and Valparaiso. There were no reports of any structural damage, Onemi said.
