The other three -- a 15-year-old girl and two boys aged 10 and 16 -- died in the blast Wednesday that happened at a home northwest of the capital where the fireworks were being assembled ahead of New Year`s Eve.

Officials had earlier reported different ages for the fatalities.

Two other children, aged 13 and 14, remain in hospital with serious burns. A 52-year-old adult was also treated for injuries.

Fireworks in Guatemala are often made in homes by poor families who fail to take basic safety precautions.
